What to Bring on Move-In Day

As August approaches and Rambler College Park is nearly complete, we cannot wait to welcome our new residents home!

Between packing, coordinating logistics and making sure you don’t forget anything important, move-in day at Rambler can start to feel overwhelming.

With so much going on, it’s easy to lose track of the essentials you’ll need right away, which is why setting aside a tote bag of your essential items for night-one can make a big difference.

To help you stay organized, we’ve put together a list of must-have items to bring on day one so your move-in goes as smoothly as possible.

1. Basic Toiletries

Roommates freshen up in their unit’s apartment bathroom at Rambler in College Park.

After a long day of moving boxes, the last thing you’ll want to do is dig through everything just to find your toothbrush. That’s why it’s important to keep your basic toiletries easily accessible.

Make sure your tote includes everyday essentials like toothpaste, contacts, deodorant, a hairbrush, a razor, face wash and moisturizer.

Since move-in day can feel like a workout, it’s also a good idea to have your shower items ready to go, including shampoo, conditioner, towels and a shower curtain.

Finally, don’t forget a few bathroom basics, like paper towels, toilet paper and soap, so your space is fully stocked from the start.

2. Cleaning Supplies

New resident at Rambler College Park cleans the mirror in their unit opening Fall 2027.

Move-in day can get messy fast with packing materials, tape and unexpected spills. If you want a clean start in your new space, it’s important to have a few basic cleaning supplies on hand.

Pack essentials like disinfecting wipes, all-purpose cleaner and a broom so you can tidy up as you go.

You’ll also want to bring trash bags, since you’ll likely be making multiple trips to throw things out throughout the day.

3. Kitchen Supplies

New residents enjoy pizza together in their living room at Rambler College Park.

Whether the plan is to cook or pick-up the first meal in your new home, you will want to have dining utensils, a plate and a cup or mug to enjoy it. Don’t forget snacks and water!

4. Overnight Items

You likely won’t finish unpacking by the time you go to sleep, so set aside pajamas and a change of clothes for tomorrow. Make sure to include a phone charger as well!

5. The Irreplaceables

Move-in day can be hectic, and it’s easy to misplace important items in the process. To avoid any issues, keep essential documents like your government-issued ID in a safe, easy-to-access spot.

You’ll also want to have any daily medications and hard-to-replace prescriptions on hand so you’re not scrambling to find them later.

If you want an easy way to stay organized, download our moving checklist: it covers everything you need for a smooth move-in and move-out experience.

We hope you are excited to call Rambler College Park home! If you have additional questions about what to bring for move-in day or the moving process in general, reach out to our leasing team! We are happy to answer any questions you may have.
